Educator and Scientist Granted US Patent for Innovative Instructional Tool
Eleonora Gabay, educator, President of FeedBack Cards, Inc., NJ and Natan Kogan, a scientist and her associate announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted them US Patent number 6,402,522 on June 11, 2002 for their invention entitled "Workbook with movable colored tabs". The workbook is intended for children 5-10 years old to help them reinforce Basic learning skills with a great feeling of success and joy. This goal is achieved by the fortunate implementation of color-coding system to answer recording and answer-checking techniques. Children as young as 5 years old are able to check and correct their own work by themselves. Success is revealed in a form of site-by-site matching colors. This display excites children and motivates them to demonstrate it to others. Parent, teachers, and peers can recognize success "at-a-glance" and children are rewards immediately. FeedBack Cards, Inc. has launched selling a family of workbooks created on the basis of the patent: BASICOLORIDE and MUSICOLORIDE.
Floyd K. Grave, Professor of Rutgers University, wrote of the workbooks MUSICOLORIDE, "These workbooks are a truly ingenious inspiration…". Nigel Allanson of Princeton, NJ, the father of a 5-year old daughter said, "I think that the BASICOLORIDE workbooks are a first-rate learning device for children".
